My name is Katelyn Booker and my Topic is, “Is Fast Food Bad For You?” I chose this topic because I think that its very important to eat healthy. I wanted to look into what fast food really does to your body. By choosing this topic I learned all of the bad things about fast food, and learrned that the only good thing it has going forit is that it's cheap, and quick.
The highlight of my projcect was definatly when I did my interaction. Seeing the affect fast food really does have on my body, and the way it made me feel. I learned that I will never eat fast food for three meals again, because my body fellt weak and like it had no energy all day. I learned so much about fast food, I know do not eat any meat from fast food places because I know what it is made of and its not just cow or chicken, its made of other things also. The thing I would have done differently if I could would be to not let people copy my book review, I would have done it gotten an A like I should have.
Overall I enjoyed doing this blog and learning all about fast food. I also learned to never let anyone, not even your best friends copy my work. I now think that fast food is very nasty and I will no eat near as much as I used to. The only great thing about it is that it is cheap and quick.

Super-Size Me

Supersize me was a movie made in 2007, starring Morgan Spurlock. He documented his life while eating McDonalds for thirty days straight every meal. He didn’t eat or drink anything for thirty days unless it was from McDonalds. If asked to supersize his meal, Spurlock said yes. By the end of the thirty days he had eaten every menu items from McDonalds at least once. Before he started he was tested by three doctors, and when he was finished he was tested by the same three doctors. The three doctors were a general practitioner, a cardiologist, and a gastroenterologist. The move will defiantly make you think twice about eating fast food. Spurlock’s objective was to prove why Americans are getting so fast so quickly. Before he went on the thirty days McDonalds diet, Spurlock had an 11% body fat and by the end a 28% increase in body fat, and he gained 24.5 pounds.
What Spurlock did defiantly made me realize how fattening McDonalds is. I mean gaining almost 25 pounds in less than a month is unreal. I can’t believe that a few cheeseburgers and French fries will do that to you. Americans are getting so obese and it’s because of all of the advertisements everywhere. “I couldn't open up a magazine, you couldn't read a newspaper, and you couldn't turn on the TV without hearing about the obesity epidemic in America” (Morgan Spurlock). Hopefully every American will watch this movie so that they will stop eating so much fast food.

Fast Food and Your Health
According to “Enzine @rticles”,” You are what you eat and if you eat fast food, you are running a risk. Eating lots of fast food is a good way to get fat and do a number on your body.” A lot of items at McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy’s and other fast food places, there menu items are extremely high in fat, calories, cholesterol and sodium. Those four things are all things that your body needs, but by having a hamburger and fries, its way to much of an intake. The average adult should have less than 2,000 calories a day and less than sixty grams of fat in a 24 hour day. Just one McDonald's Big Mac contains over six hundred calories, thirty grams of fat and over one thousands milligrams of sodium. That is over forty five percent of your daily recommended allowance. If you add a large fry to your meal, five hundred and forty calories, twenty six grams of fat and over three hundred and fifty grams of sodium. If you add a soft drink to that and you have over half of your daily allowed calorie intake and almost your entire allowable fat intake all in just one meal. “Enzine @rticles”, “says that if you make simple changes in your order you can consume less calories then you would at a high end restraint”. In order to please a growing number of customers who are concerned about their health, many fast food restaurants are going to using none or very few trans-fats which have been determined to be harmful to our health.Passi, Jerry "Fast Food and Your Health." Fast Food and Your Health. 5 Mar. 2007 EzineArticles.com. 16 Apr. 2010 <http://ezinearticles.com/?Fast-Food-and-Your-Health&id=478175>.
“Enzine @rticles” made me really thinks about how much calories that I consume in one day. I would have never known that by just eating one meal that I have had all my fat, calories, cholesterol, and sodium. Which that’s not even the good kind of fat that my body needs. I think that fast food is bad for my health and I will not eat near as much of it after reading this article. In the article Passi said that you’re supposed to have less than 2,000 calories a day, I bet that most Americans consume 2,000 or more a day that’s why over half are obese.

Interaction

On May 1,2010 Taylor Hemphill and I ate fast food for all three meals, and on May 4,2010 we ate 3 healthy meals. On Satuday we ate chick-fil-a for breakfast and I ate a chicken biscuit and h
ash browns. For lunch I ate Milos and got a chicken finger basket with french fries. For Dinner I ate Zaxbys, and got a chicken sandwhich with french fries. On Tuesay the day I ate healthy For breakfast I ate yogurt and an apple. For lunch I ate a turkey sandwhich with baked chips. For dinner I ate a grilled chicken sandwhich.
When I ate fast food for three meals I felt like the food over powered me. I felt like I had no energ
y all day and that I was a lazy and fat person. I decided to go to the gym like I do everyday and workout and run two miles. When I started running my two miles, my first mile I was ok, but when it came around to my second mile I could barely finish my body was so tired and didn't feel like it normally did. On Tuesday when I ate healthy I could tell my body was very differnet from Saturday. I had so much energy and just felt great about myse
lf. I felt like I was doing my body a favor, and treating it right. When I went to the gym, I did my normal routine and ran my two miles with no problem, I even had a little bit of extra energy, so I decided to do more cardio. I could definatly tell a difference between the way body felt Saturday, and the way it felt Tuesday. Fast food really did make me feel nasty and worthless, but when I had a healthy diet I just felt like I could do anything, it was like an energy booster. From this I learned that fast food really isn't all it seems, Americans make it to be awesome, but really its just damaging your body.

In this video, it's main look is at Mcdonalds and how unhealthy this place is for you. From a known fact, Mcdonalds conserves up to 46 million customers, and average an annual revenue of almost 20 billion dollars. This amount is ridiculous for someone to eat all the time, it can cause many different health issues with the body. This video contains obesity from this food, along with diabetes. French fries are known to be the most eaten vegetable in America, but also one of the worst to be bought from a place like this. Mcdonalds only has 7 items on the menu that does not contain sugar, which is a given that obviously this is not the most healthy place. Any type of food like this can cause heart disease if you have it on a daily basis.
I honestly am not a fan of Mcdonalds. I think that it is very crazy why people eat Mcdonalds more than once a month. Everyone know how bad it is for you, and they just continue to eat it. I don't consider french fries a vegtable and many Americans do, so they contunually eat them as if they are good for you. I also dont want heart disease, so im not going to even to risk getting a heart disease so im not going to eat anything from Mcdonalds.
Fast Food Nation

The book Fast Food Nation by Eric Scholsser was a very interesting book. Scholosser talks about fast food and how it all started and how the fast food industry has grown throughout the years. Fast Food Nation has ten chapters explaining almost everything good and bad about fast food. From who founded the first fast food place, down to what’s in the meat that we eat every day. The book has some very interesting facts, and the most interesting thing that I read was when Scholosser talked about Taco Bell, one of my favorite places. Taco Bell can offer low prices because they have already pre-cooked the beef and beans. “The strategy was a success during the 1990’s but eventually backfired as Taco Bell gained a reputation for cheap, bland food.”(Scholosser 280). Sales went down by 97% which caused financial problems to thousands of Taco Bell franchises. This Taco Bell story is just one of the many fast food stories that Scholosser talk about in his book, Fast Food Nation.
I have two opinions about this book. My first opinion is that, I wish Scholosser wouldn’t have smashed the fast food industry so much. Taco Bell is one of my favorite places to eat and I didn’t even know that the meat and beans had been pre-cooked. I also didn’t like how he put down fast food places so much that they lost business. Fast Food Nation had many law suits against it because they made so many franchises lose money.
On the other hand, I liked what Scholosser did, because it made me realize how bad fast food places such as Taco Bell really are for me. I always wondered why my stomach hurt so bad after eating Taco Bell, and now I know it’s because imp eating meat and beans that have been cooked months before. He also made me realize that something as little as food can kill you. Her did a great job by trying to get to Americans and make them realize what they are putting their body’s through, and hopeful y making them realize that it can kill them.

According to moneyinstructor.com, fast fooe equals bad eating habbits. A typical meal from a fast food restaurant, say a serving of fries and a cheeseburger, amount to about 1,000 calories. This is about half of the recommended dietary allowance. This is mainly because of the large portions that fast foods are accustomed to serving. The tendency is for people to enlarge their appetites by eating beyond their limit, because of being afraid for the food to go to waste.Another issue in the fast food industry is the health hazards that fast food chains are prone to. A hazard is the E-coli bacteria that meat products are susceptible to. Because of the long supply chain through which fast food chains operate in, the handling and sourcing of the meat is very hard to monitor.
